Issues Faced Supporting for Parents of Special Needs Child by Parenting Support Workers Employed by Community-Based Child Rearing Support Centers: Based on an Analysis of Training Worksheets from a Parenting Support Workshop in “A” city, Kanto region of Japan.

The present study aimed to analyze the worries and perceived difficulties faced by parenting support workers employed by community-based child rearing support centers when supporting children with developmental concerns and their parents. Details of workers’ issues were clarified and used to define the contexts of these issues. Analysis of training worksheets completed during workshop training by 13 workers describing their worries and perceived difficulties clarified the following categories of issues:interactions with parents, interactions with children, client-centered support, coordination with other facilities, and other issues. The contexts of these issues were as follows（ 1）characteristics of childcare at community-based child rearing support centers;（ 2） lack of opportunities to acquire knowledge and support skills related to parental psychology
and the development and care of children with developmental concerns; （3） difficulty handling support for parental relationships, including interactions between parents of
children with developmental concerns; （4） difficulty with self-awareness regarding the worker’s own mindset, values, and attitude; and（ 5） need to develop a response flowchart based on a systematic grasp of community resources.
