内容記述 | In early April 2020, several news media reported that tweets about people“ having weird dreams”had quadrupled in number. The reports argued that COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown of cities had increased people’s nightmares. Several academic studies examining the relationship between COVID-19 and dreams have been published but have yielded inconsistent results. On the other hand, many studies have investigated the effects of the pandemic and the lockdown on sleep-wake patterns, and show robust results such as delayed sleep phase and lengthening of nocturnal sleep. The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 and staying at home on sleep-wake patterns, and on dreams and nightmares in Japanese university students. As a result, delayed sleep phase and prolonged sleep time were observed, while no significant increase was observed for dreams and nightmares during the pandemic. | |||||||||
