| 内容記述 | This study reports the findings of observations and data collected over four years in semester-long courses offering in-class SSR（Sustained Silent Reading）.It shows how SSR encourages students,even those who hold a negative attitude toward English,to read extensively.Previous studies have shown that easyreading materials lower learners'affective filter and enable them to read faster,more,and better,and thus enjoy reading. Based on the data collected from the students, which incudes reading records with word counts,responses to a questionnaire and free descriptions, this study finds that reluctant or lower-ability students of English were able to build vocabulary and structural awareness,develop reading automaticity,improve comprehension skills,and thereby increase motivation and promote confidence.This study,then,supports the conclusion that in-class SSR and easy reading materials foster such students'positive reading attitudes. | |||||||||||
