 note = {P(論文), The “globalization” era has created a need for universities to develop more “efficient” ways of teaching English in order to produce graduates with a “global” skill set. In Japan, English is generally regarded as the primary international language. To meet the social demand for English-language skills, Japan must reconsider its current English education system, and based on this reconsideration, create a plan for the future.
　The first aim of this thesis is to examine the current English education system at Edogawa University. To this end, Toyoko Matsumura examines and evaluates her own teaching experience over the past 30 years, as her experience could be considered representative of the English education system at our university. This examination has produced many useful ideas and lessons for the future.
　The second aim of this thesis is to find innovative ways to create a new English education system appropriate for a“globalized” world. Teppei Suzuki, who has taught English and French at Edogawa University since last April, has suggested several efficient methods for teaching: “writing” in English, small group classes, and collaboration with other academic fields such as Japanese logical writing, cross-cultural understanding, Japanese cultural studies, other foreign languages, and information and communication technology.},
