Following the history of film anddiscussions on cinema, we examine the similarities and differences between films and fictional novels.Arguments by film critics, in particular Andre Bazin, are reviewed to evaluate the role of literaturein the development of film as a story-telling medium. Furthermore, referring to Deleuze’s thoughtson cinema, we also appraise his concept of Image Tempo to consider whether it is a fruitful way ofanalysing individual transmedial works.},
