Their common aim to achieve is to establish a national theatre to develop their movement in order to appeal to the public for both political and cultural independence of Ireland.As for the themes for the stage, Irish legendary topics or historical events are preferred. In particular, legendary heroines such as Deirdre or Grania became popular among writers. Grania written by Lady Gregory was,however, never performed except one time which was not successful.
